The grammy winning Dutch Metropole Orchestra is a household name in the international pop music scene. When they asked us to do a tour together in 2017, naturally we suggested to record a few tunes. And here it is: the MO x Caro Emerald EP.
The tracks were recorded in november 2017 EP at the Electric Monkey Studio in Amsterdam, the vintage studio where big parts of “The Shocking Miss Emerald” were recorded as well. Part of the sound is rare mixing desk previously owned by Ennio Morricone. Not a coincidence, the sound of the EP is inspired by 60’s cinema – combining the lush sound of the very skilled Metropole Orkest (you don’t win Grammy’s for nothing) and the smokey, warm sound of Grandmono. Reminiscence of cinematic orchestras, Italian cinema, French soundtracks, even some exotica – it’s all there.
